Town Mayor’s Cadet Scheme
The Town Mayor’s Cadet Scheme was introduced in 2009 by the then Mayor Councillor Martin Bowring. Each year a new Mayor’s Cadet is recruited from the various Youth organisations within Lydney.

Cadet Sergeant Jess Rydeard from the Royal Air Force Air Cadets has proven herself as a valuable member since 2021. Cadet Sgt. Rydeard's dedication and skills, including her qualification in methods of instruction, highlight her commitment to supporting her fellow cadets and contributing positively to her community.
Cadet Corporal Joshua Fearon of Lydney Army Cadet Force (ACF) has been selected for his exceptional service and leadership within the Lydney Platoon. Since joining in 2021, Cadet Corporal Fearon has distinguished himself through his proactive involvement in various activities and his role as a mentor to junior cadets. His achievements, including receiving the 'Cadet of the Cadre' award and passing the Junior Cadet Instructor Cadre, underscore his dedication to personal and professional development within the ACF.
Leading Cadet Toby Salmon of the Sea Cadet Corps has been recognised for his outstanding contributions to the organisation. Known for his unwavering commitment, maturity, and exemplary behaviour, Leading Cadet Salmon consistently sets high standards for their peers. His leadership, discipline, and integrity has earned him admiration both on and off the parade ground, embodying the core values of the Sea Cadet Corps.
